...it's the library.
When I was a kid, we didn't go to a book store when we wanted a book. We went to the library. The school library. And the town library. And before Valley Stream built a library of it's own, we went to the library in Alden Terrace. Because we read books weekly, and weekly books weren't in the family budget.
I wasn't planning on doing any book events until after the release of
It's Beginning to Look Lot Like Murder, but I couldn't turn down the invitation to be part of a panel of authors on September 26 at the Monmouth County library. We'll be talking about building suspense. (Cue scary music).
I sure hope no one dies in the next 23 days. Peacefully. In their sleep.

My earliest library memory is of the bookmobile that came around, I think to our little neighborhood school, in Denver. I probably wasn't more than six years old.
My first introduction to books came by way of libraries... fond memories. Now though I normally check bookstores for new releases, then if they are by an author I know (hence I will likely enjoy) I buy them, otherwise back to the library I go. I am usually a Sci-Fi reader myself, but I will check to see if your book is in/on order at the library :)
I love libraries. My first good book was in fifth grade from the library. I didn't want to return it, but feared the dreaded fine! I took the grands to the library regularly but just recently the grand boy said why do we have to return the book. He prefers I buy them and keep them for his use.
Libraries have been a haven for me since I was half as tall as I am now. The diversity of services offered now make them as much a community hub as a place to gain access to books This weekend .I have the opportunity to read a book (which is quite old ,by Pearl s Buck about raising her autistic daughter )that was referenced in another book and had to be borrowed from another library .It arrived at my library the day after I put it on hold. How cool is that?Librarians too are their own brand of cool...Enjoy your time time on the panel..I wish I could listen in
The library is a great place to go to. The nearby library where I live just got renovated and it is even better. Hope you enjoy the book event. Look forward to hearing how it goes.
Toby.
I have always loved libraries...my earliest memories are of my Brownie troop meeting in a library. Your panel topic on building suspense sounds fascinating. Maybe you'll do a blog on it after the program.
Good luck! I don't know how other book signings or talks go but libraries feel comfy to me. I hope you enjoy the time.
